How CDOT's Mentor-Protege Program Works

Teams self-pair to create a partnership lasting 1-2 calendar years. To apply, Teams evaluate the Protégé's business needs, identify mutually beneficial goals, and create a plan to make progress against them, with the ultimate goal of building the Protégé's capacity to compete on CDOT contracts.

If selected, Teams participate in a kick-off networking event involving CDOT Executive Leadership, Regional Engineering Staff, Industry Leadership, and Transportation Commissioners. At this event, Teams will share their goals for the coming year and provide highlights of the previous year (if returning for a second year).

Teams then meet and collaborate regularly as they work toward their goals, meeting quarterly with the CDOT Program Liaison to report on milestones, obstacles, and changes.

In September, Teams once again gather for an event recognizing that year's graduating Teams, who have successfully completed two years in the Program.
