Traffic Safety Initiatives Mini Grants

Who's Eligible

  • Local law enforcement agencies
  • Local government entities
  • Community coalitions
  • Community businesses
  • Community for-profit and nonprofit agencies
  • Other entities involved in traffic safety

Funding

Funding must be used for resources, support, training and materials. The funds enable traffic safety professionals to execute and support:

  • Local and statewide occupant protection;
  • Child passenger safety*;
  • Teen driving safety;
  • Distracted driving prevention;
  • Motorcycle safety;
  • Bicycle and pedestrian safety; and
  • Impaired driving prevention initiatives.

*Child Passenger Safety seats cannot be purchased with these funds.

Requirements

  1. Applicants must be able to identify a traffic issue supported by data, establish baseline and evaluation measures, describe measurable activities and detail how the project will be evaluated.
  2. Law enforcement agencies that do not currently receive CDOT LEAF or high-visibility enforcement funds are able to apply for specialized enforcement efforts.
  3. Only one application per agency is permitted, with a maximum funding amount of $4,950.
  4. Applications are accepted October through June 1, and all projects terminate Sept. 30. Applicants must submit the Audit Certification & Exemption Form along with a completed application to [email protected].
