The CDOT Research Library makes available relevant and authoritative information resources related to construction, planning, design, environmental impact assessment, engineering, research, policy, and more. This includes manuals, brochures, technical reports, standards, studies, and materials for loan.

About the Library

The library collection consists of approximately 5,000 items and includes:

  • NEPA Reports
  • Environment Assessment Research Reports
  • CDOT Manuals, Field Logs, Cost Data Reports
  • A growing selection of Non-Fiction including Leadership materials, P.E. exam study guides, and historical books

The library is a research area accessible to CDOT employees and members of the public. Located on the 4th floor of the headquarters building, visitors may browse the shelves or use the catalog to search for their item.

The librarian is available for questions and research assistance.

Library Use & Etiquette

  • Be considerate of others.
  • No food or drink.
  • Check out ALL materials with the librarian.
  • Return books to the cart near the desk.


  • Circulation
    • CDOT employees may check out materials for a period of 3 weeks. One's CDOT email is your library card ID. Items may be renewed if needed. 
    • Members of the public may view print materials onsite only. Library materials are not available for checkout to the public.
      • Please email [email protected]  or call 303-757-9972 to arrange a visit and visitor badge. The library currently does not have public computers.

    • Electronic materials are available to ALL and may be found in the library catalog.
    • Special collections do not circulate.
  • Reference
    • The librarian is available for research assistance.
    • Literature searches are available for CDOT employees upon request.
