'Nicest Thing'- Return of Wheelchair Seat Cover

Vernon of Julsburg called CDOT Public Relations to report that when he lost a seat cover off his custom wheelchair, which he carries in the back of his pickup, on a trip from Julesburg to Sterling, the cover was found and returned thanks to the efforts of CDOT employees.

Vernon mentioned to an in-home care giver, Betty Garett, wife of CDOT employee Stan Garett (TM-I, Patrol 32 at Crook), that the seat cover was gone. Betty called Stan, who immediately put the word out with the Julesburg Patrol that the cover had been lost along I-76, probably somewhere between Julesburg and Crook. Sure enough, Shane Baxter and Bryce Munson, both TM-Is with Patrol 34 at Julesburg, were on their way to work on another highway in the area when they spotted the seat cover.

They notified Garret and got the cover to him. He in turn gave it to his wife, who got it back to the Vernon family. Vernon was very happy with the chain of events. "That's about the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me," he said in his phone call.
