U.S. 24 Reopening Pleases Bicyclist

John Schaeffer e-mailed CDOT on July 27 to report his pleasure with the impending partial reopening of U.S. 24 following repairs at a massive sinkhole along the roadway.  The highway reopened to one lane of alternative traffic on Monday, July 30, and is expected to open completely the week of Aug. 6.

Schaeffer wrote, "Just a note of thanks to all of you at CDOT for getting the U.S. 24 sinkhole repair to the point that the Cooper Triangle charity ride can use the course next weekend.  Great job, folks!  I look forward to a fun event."

CDOT considered many factors for the repairs and reopening of U.S. 24, including the commuting needs and travel patterns of local residents, prime summer season visitor traffic, and special events scheduled for the corridor.  It is safe to say that many people, locals and visitors alike as well as CDOT, will be happy to have traffic flowing over U.S. 24 once again.
