Kudos for Handling of U.S. 24

Jeff Duncan lives in Woodland Park, above the area on U.S. 24 below the Waldo Canyon Burn wildfire burn scar, including the popular resort town of Manitou Springs, that has been pounded by heavy rain and flooding in recent days.  On Aug. 14, he wrote the following in an e-mail to the CDOT website:

"I can't let this go by without saying what an incredible job the CDOT highway crews did clearing the mess of boulders, rocks, mud, wood, etc., from Hwy. 24 as a result of flooding Aug. 9-13.  I can't believe how fast they cleared the road surfaces.  The westbound lanes remained closed on Aug. 10 to give them space to safely work on the shoulder, but they did an amazing job overnight and I can't let it go without saying THANKS!  They did a LOT of very HARD work and have more than earned the praise."
