New EPB Staff Archaeologist

Staff Update

Please join us in welcoming the new Staff Archaeologist, Becca Simon, to the Cultural Resources team in the Environmental Programs Branch at CDOT HQ in Denver. Becca comes to us from the Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation at History Colorado, where she was the Assistant State Archaeologist. Prior to that, she was an educator and archaeologist with Crow Canyon Archaeological Center and also worked as a consultant where she conducted archaeological work throughout Colorado. She is an active member of the Colorado Council of Professional Archaeologists, as well as the Society for American Archaeology. She holds an MA in Anthropology from Colorado State University and a BA in Anthropology and English from the Pennsylvania State University/University Park. Becca's professional interests include public outreach and education, Southwest archaeology, the protohistoric era, and preservation. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, skiing, hunting, playing ultimate Frisbee, pretending to do roller derby, and most importantly, hanging out with her dog, Minnie.
Becca will be working statewide with Senior Archaeologist Greg Wolff to ensure that CDOT is in compliance with Section 106 for archaeological resources. She is on the 4th Floor at HQ/R1, so please stop by and say 'hello'.
