US 385 Resurfacing North of Holyoke

The Colorado Department of Transportation has completed a highway resurfacing and accessibility upgrade project along a ten-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 385 north of Holyoke. This state and federally funded project was part of CDOT’s 10-year plan to restore this section of two-lane highway to optimal condition and add much-needed curb ramps at various intersections in downtown Holyoke to improve accessibility for all pedestrians. Work began in April and was completed on schedule. Crews will return in January to install a gate and again in spring to place sod at curb ramp areas, with only minor traffic impacts expected. CDOT and contractor Simon of Cheyenne, Wyoming would like to thank area businesses, residents and the traveling public for their understanding during the period of construction.
 

The main scope of work included rehabilitating the pavement and widening shoulders along a ten-mile stretch of US 385 north of Holyoke. Work included excavating subbase, milling, placing base course and asphalt overlays, making culvert extensions, striping, and adding rumble strips, pavement delineators and signs along the corridor. Other work included installing new ADA compliant curb ramps at intersections on US 385 from Johnson St. to Bignel St., and on U.S. Highway 6 from the US 385 intersection to Reynolds St. The new curb ramps are sloped for easier access, finished with a slip resistant surface, and include other features to meet ADA guidelines. Crews will return by spring to perform miscellaneous finishing work, with only minor traffic impacts expected.
