CO 7 Road, Bike Lane & ADA Improvements in Estes Park

In spring 2018, crews began making improvements to Colorado Highway 7 in Estes Park.

Work includes:

  • paving 12 miles of the highway;
  • improving approximately 40 culverts;
  • widening shoulders to accommodate bike lanes from Lily Lake to Chapel on the Rock; and
  • upgrading curb ramps to ensure they comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Schedule & Travel Impacts

  • Normal work hours: 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, through October 2019
  • In special cases, these hours may be extended.
  • Week of June 9: Night works begins, with up to 30-minute delays.

Completed Work

  • about 20 culverts replaced and repaired
  • 90 percent of the planned intersection improvements—including Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) -compliant ramp installation and sidewalk tie-ins
  • prepatory road-widening work to create at least four additional feet for bicyclists from Lily Lake to St. Malo's Chapel on the Rock
