Project Complete!

In February 2020 the Colorado Department of Transportation will begin work to improve several different sections of roadway and intersections throughout Region 1. 

The majority of the project work will be completed at night with occasional daytime work. Depending on the project location this may involve, shoulder, on-ramp, single and double lane closures. This project is part of CDOT’s “Whole System. Whole Safety.” initiative aimed at enhancing safety for Colorado’s traveling public. Work on hours will vary at each location and will be announced prior to starting.  

This project was contracted to Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction Company for $4 million.

  • Eastbound I-76 at 136th Avenue
  • Westbound I-76 at 136 th Avenue
  • I-70 at Bennett Ramps
  • SH 121 and Chatfield Intersection (from C-470 to Coal Mine)
  • US 285 from Mile Point 235.3 to Parmale
  •  US 285 from Parmalee to Mile Point 246.1
  • I-70 at Watkins Ramps
  • Westbound I-76 at 88th Avenue
  • SH 177 at Arapahoe
  • Eastbound I-70 at Garrison
  • Eastbound I-70 at SH 121
  • I-70 at Airpark Ramps
  • I-70 at Strasburg Ramps

Work Zone Safety

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
