I-70 West Vail Pass Basin Access Road

Project Facts

  • Cost: $483,000
  • Location: A one-mile stretch of I-70 in Eagle County, from mile points 182.5-183.5

Project Team

  • Contractor(s): Ewing Trucking & Construction

From Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, to Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, crews on this project will build an access road from the Vail Pass Recreation Trail to a large sediment basin along Black Gore Creek, on the north side of I-70.

The access road will enable CDOT to more efficiently remove the sediment from the basin in the future.

Work will be completed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 7 a.m. to noon on Fridays. The trail will not be closed.

Traffic Impacts

From 7 a.m. Monday through noon on Friday, the trail will be reduced to a width of 10 feet (a section adjacent to I-70, from mile points 182 to 183.5) so crews can stage equipment on one half of the trail.
