“LOVE WINS” is made up of vintage images thrown together and then ripped apart to convey a message of “love.” The word “love” in this mural was derived from a late 1930’s film poster and the word “wins” was taken from a 1950’s newspaper headline. The couple embracing on the right was found in a 1960’s advertisement piece. Jessie Frazier, also known as Denver artist, FAIM, has dedicated his career to portraying images that combine the past with the present by collaging them to create his own distinct murals, paintings and prints. This piece was dedicated to a friend of the artist who was a victim of gun violence. The words “love wins” struck a chord with the artist after they were written on his late friend’s Facebook page before he passed away. These words have been an inspiration to FAIM throughout the years and provided strength when he needed it most. FAIM is an active member of the Denver street art community. You can see other pieces of his artwork along Colfax Avenue.
