Crews on this project will improve safety and mobility on US 40 from Steamboat Springs west. Project work, which started on May 1, 2017, will continue through late November 2017.

Work will include:

  • resurfacing from just west of County Road (CR) B9 to Elk River Road;
  • intersection and signal work at Elk River Road; and
  • drainage, sidewalk and curb ramp upgrades.

Traffic Impacts

The speed limit is reduced to 25 mph through the intersection. Expect delays of up to 15 minutes on US 40 between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

A wide load restriction of 12 feet is in place 24/7.
