US 24 Woodland Park Paving and ADA Curb Ramp Improvements
About the Project:
The Colorado Department of Transportation along with contractor Kiewit will begin installing ADA (American’s with Disabilities Act) curb ramps in Woodland Park and resurfacing along US 24 from Divide to Chipita Park early in April. The anticipated completion date of the project is November 2023.
Construction will begin with the installation of the ADA curb ramps and installation of guardrail along US 24. Later in the summer resurfacing of US 24 will begin. Other improvements will include the construction of embankment protectors, replacement of 2 traffic counter sensor arrays and signing/striping the project corridor.
“Improving the curb access in Woodland Park greatly improves multimodal access,” said Regional Transportation Director Shane Ferguson.
CDOT’s Executive Director Shoshana Lew agrees. “Complying with ADA standards will make certain all members of the community—whether on foot, wheelchair or bicycle—can easily and readily use highway crossings and intersection crosswalks.
Forty-four ADA curb ramps will be installed in Woodland Park at the following locations:
- US 24 and Lafayette Ave
- US 24 and Browning St
- US 24 and Elm St
