Weekly Traffic Impacts - March 17 to March 23


Please be advised that there will be no impacts to traffic next week for the US 50 & CO 115 Roundabout project in Penrose, Fremont County. All work will be performed off the roadway.

No Planned Traffic Impacts


Monday, March 18 to Friday, March 22 - both directions of CO 115 - no planned lane closures
  • No lane closures are planned for this period or for the next two weeks
  • Working hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday
  • The project limits on CO 115 extend from MP 12.76 to MP 14.01
  • Starting in April, motorists can expect 24/7 lane closures on CO 115 during construction of the roundabout
  • These 24/7 closures will begin on the southbound side, followed by the northbound side, managed by temporary signals
  • The temporary signals will be installed on each end of the roundabout area to manage alternating directions of traffic into the open lane
  • Signs and message boards will be in place to alert the public to restrictions within the work zone
  • Construction schedules are weather dependent and subject to change
Work includes building embankment areas for the roundabout and detour. All work is being performed off the roadway with no traffic impacts expected.

 

Monday, March 18 to Friday, March 22 - Eastbound US 50 - no planned lane closures
  • No lane closures will be taken on eastbound US 50 during this period or for the immediate future
  • Crews will be working off the roadway to build embankment areas for the roundabout and detour
  • Working hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday
  • The project limits on US 50 extend from Mile Point 289.50 to MP 289.84
  • Traffic shifts, narrowed lanes and reduced speeds may exist later in the project
  • Signs and construction devices will be present to alert the public to the work zone, closures and restrictions
  • Construction schedules are weather dependent and subject to change

General Impacts, Schedule & Scope of Work

  • The project began on March 4 and has an anticipated completion date of October
  • Starting in April, motorists can expect 24/7 lane closures on CO 115 during construction of the roundabout
  • These 24/7 closures will begin on the southbound side, followed by the northbound side, managed by temporary signals
  • The temporary signals will be installed on each end of the roundabout area to manage alternating directions of traffic into the open lane
  • No immediate lane closures are expected on eastbound US 50
  • An onsite temporary detour will be in place this spring from the eastbound US 50 off ramp to CO 115
  • The project limits on US 50 extend from MP 289.50 to MP 289.84
  • The project limits on CO 115 extend from MP 12.76 to MP 14.01
  • Working hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday
  • Working hours will be extended during the summer months
  • This state funded project is designed to improve safety and traffic flow by adding a roundabout
  • The roundabout will be on the south side of CO 115 and intersect with the on and off ramps of eastbound US 50
  • No changes will be made to the westbound US 50 on and off ramps
  • Other work includes adding a concrete island and truck apron, and installing curb and gutter, lighting, and traffic signs
  • Roundabouts are proven to be a safer and more efficient method of traffic operations at certain intersections
  • Construction schedules are weather dependent and subject to change
