Thanksgiving Week enforcement begins holiday DUI prevention efforts

Traffic Safety Pulse News

Thanksgiving weekend often marks the beginning of the holiday season nationwide. Along with this excitement comes increased traffic and potential for traffic crashes, especially involving impaired drivers. CDOT, Colorado State Patrol and local law enforcement agencies will come together for the Thanksgiving Week DUI enforcement from Nov. 24-28 to help keep impaired drivers off Colorado roads.

During last year’s Thanksgiving Week enforcement period, 104 participating agencies arrested 354 impaired drivers from Nov. 20-30. The remaining holiday DUI enforcements will include the Holiday Parties (Dec. 15-29) and New Year’s Eve Weekend (Dec. 30 to Jan. 2) enforcement periods. The most recent Halloween Weekend enforcement from Oct. 29 to Nov. 1 saw 83 participating agencies make 138 arrests.
