I-70 over Ward Road Bridge Replacement

Traffic Impacts - Aug. 6 to Aug.12

• Starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10 and lasting until approx. 6 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, both directions of Ward Road/CO 72 under I-70 will be fully closed, with detour signage in place
• A single left lane closure will be in place in both directions of I-70 within the work zone from 7 p.m. to approx. 11 p.m. 
• At approx. 11 p.m. the single lane closure will switch to a double left lane closure in both directions of I-70 between Ward Road/CO 72 (Exit 266) and CO 58/Golden (Exit 265)
• The double lane closures will exist from approximately 11 p.m. on Aug. 10 to 6 a.m. on Aug. 11
• A single lane in each direction of I-70 will remain open during this work
• The westbound I-70 Ward Road on and off ramps will also remain open 
• The closures are necessary to protect the traveling public, the construction crews, and the surrounding community
• A backup date of Friday, Aug. 11 to Saturday, Aug. 12 will exist in the event of inclement weather
• The suggested detour route to access westbound I-70 is: W. 44th Ave.to Youngfield St., and west to W. 40th Ave. to Clear Creek Drive to enter westbound I-70 at Exit 264 (Clear Creek Dr/32nd Ave)
• The detour will add approximately 2 miles and 5 minutes to travel times
• Uniformed traffic control personnel, variable message boards, signs and construction devices will be present to alert motorists to the closures
• Motorists can expect delays and alternate routes are advised
• All construction schedules are weather and supply dependent and subject to change

• A single left lane closure will be taken on westbound I-70 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. to deliver a crane
• A double left lane closure will be in place on eastbound I-70 from  approx. 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. for a second crane delivery
• Pilot cars will be present to pace traffic
• The closure limits are confined to Mile Point 266.5 (Exit 266 Ward Road) to MP 265 (Exit 265 CO 58/Golden)
• These scheduled closures are weather and supply dependent and subject to change
• Additional overnight lane closures may be scheduled to accommodate this work

• Sidewalk access is limited and caution is advised
• Signs and construction devices are present to manage traffic 
• All construction schedules are weather and work dependent and subject to change

• Double lane closures will be in place as needed in both directions of Ward Rd/CO 72 from 4 a.m. to approx. 10 a.m.
• The closure limits are confined to MP 0 (44th Ave) to MP .25 (just east of the I-70 interchange) 
• Sidewalk access is limited and caution is advised
• Signs and construction devices are present to manage traffic 
• All construction schedules are weather and work dependent and subject to change

• A single right lane closure will exist in both directions of Ward Road/CO 72 under I-70 from 7 a.m. to approx. 5 p.m.

Nearby Project Impacts

• Please be advised of occasional early morning (4 a.m. to 6 a.m.) lane closures on eastbound I-70 and intermittent lane closures during daytime and occasionally during overnight hours in both directions of 32nd Ave. below I-70 for this bridge project. 
• The extended project limits are MP 265 Exit 265 (CO 58/Golden) to MP 263 Exit 263 (Colorado Mills Pkwy). 

• Please be advised of ongoing traffic impacts on I-70 at Exit 270 related to the Harlan Street Bridge Replacement & Interchange Improvement project
• Impacts include full periodic closures of the Harlan St. interchange, the on and off ramps to westbound I-70 and other lane and road closures within the project's limits.
• Motorists will be detoured to Wadsworth Blvd to bypass ramp closures

• Please be advised of ongoing lane and shoulder closures associated with this project
• These closures will be in place during overnight and daytime hours
• This project is pending completion
