I-70 over 32nd Avenue Bridge Replacement

Work this Month
November 20 - 30, 2022

Travel Advisory - Nov. 21-22 - overnight

  • Please be advised that 32nd Ave under I-70 (including the sidewalks) will be fully closed overnight from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Nov. 21 and Nov. 22 during a concrete deck pour.

  • This pour was rescheduled due to weather events.
  • All traffic including pedestrian and cyclist will be detoured to W. 40th Avenue to bypass the full closure

Work Schedule

  • This five-phase project began on February 14, 2022 and is expected to last until late fall 2023.
  • Phase I lasts until early spring 2022 and includes minor bridge demolition, asphalt removals and utility relocations.
  • Phase II to Phase IV include constructing the median portion of the new westbound I-70 bridge and installing detour pavement, removing and replacing both westbound and eastbound I-70 bridges, constructing permanent roadways, and finalizing bridge overlays.
  • Final asphalt overlay, striping and landscaping will be completed in Phase V.
  • Work will be performed during daytime hours Monday to Friday with some night and weekend work expected.

Traffic Impacts

  • Traffic shifts, narrowed lanes and reduced speeds are in place at the approaches to and at Exit 264 (Clear Creek Pkwy/Youngfield/32nd Avenue) along both directions of I-70 from Exit 263 (Colorado Mills Pkwy) to Exit 266 (Ward Road/CO 72).
  • Three lanes of traffic will be maintained during daytime hours, but the lanes are narrower due to the traffic shifts.
  • Overnight (non peak-travel hours) single or double lane closures in both directions of I-70 from Exit 263 to Exit 266 will exist until completion.
  • Both westbound and eastbound 32nd Avenue are under a single lane reduction configuration with occasional full closures until completion.
