Weekly Traffic Impacts - Oct. 15 to Oct. 21


Please be advised of the following lane closures, restrictions and planned work for next week for the I-70 over Ward Road Bridge Replacement project in Jefferson County.

Sunday, Oct. 15 to Thursday, Oct. 19 - westbound I-70 - overnight lane closures
  • Single lane closures switching to double lane closures will be in place on westbound I-70 within the project limits from Sunday, Oct. 15 to Thursday, Oct. 19
  • The single lane closures will be taken on westbound I-70 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. overnight on Sunday, Oct. 15, and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday
  • Double lane closures will exist on westbound I-70 from 10 p.m. (or as late as 11 p.m.) to 6 a.m. Monday to Thursday for paving operations
  • The closure limits are confined to Mile Point 266.5 (Exit 266 Ward Road) to MP 265 (Exit 265 CO 58/Golden)
  • The project limits abut the limits for the I-70 over 32nd Ave bridge replacement project which also has overnight westbound I-70 lane closures in place (please refer to Nearby Project Impacts below)
  • Delays can be expected during early morning hours due to these concurrent lane closures within a five-mile stretch of westbound I-70 from Exit 266 (Ward Road) to Exit 263 (Colorado Mills Pkwy)
  • Scheduled closures are weather and work dependent and subject to change
Work includes installing temporary bridge rail and placing detour pavement.

Sunday, Oct. 15 to Friday, Oct. 20 - both directions of Ward Rd/CO 72 under I-70 - overnight lane closures on Sunday & intermittent weekday overnight and daytime lane closures
  • On Sunday, Oct. 15, double lane closures will be taken during overnight hours in both directions of Ward Road under I-70 from 6 p.m. to approx. 7 a.m. (or later), while crews install temporary bridge barrier
  • Single lane closures switching to double lane closures may exist Monday to Friday in both directions of Ward Road/CO 72 under I-70
  • The daytime lane closures will be in place from approx. 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., on an as needed basis
  • Periodic overnight lane closures will also exist within the project limits from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • The closure limits are confined to MP 0 (44th Ave) to MP .25 (just east of the I-70 interchange) 
  • Sidewalk access is limited and caution is advised
  • Signs and construction devices are present to manage traffic 
  • All construction schedules are weather and work dependent and subject to change
Work includes installing temporary bridge rail and placing detour pavement.

I-70 over 32nd Ave Bridge Replacement 
  • Overnight single lane closures switching to double lane closures will exist on westbound I-70 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday to Thursday
  • Various lane closures will be taken during daytime and occasionally during overnight hours in both directions of 32nd Ave. below I-70
  • Motorists can expect short delays during early morning hours
  • The extended project limits are MP 265 Exit 265 (CO 58/Golden) to MP 263 Exit 263 (Colorado Mills Pkwy)
  • This project has an anticipated completion date of late October/early November
Harlan St Bridge Replacement & Interchange Improvement project
  • Please be advised of ongoing traffic impacts on I-70 at Exit 270 related to the Harlan Street Bridge Replacement & Interchange Improvement project
  • Impacts include full periodic closures of the Harlan St. interchange, the on and off ramps to westbound I-70 and other lane and road closures within the project's limits.
  • Motorists will be detoured to Wadsworth Blvd to bypass ramp closures
