CDOT's Accessibility Program

President George H.W. Bush signs the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26, 1990

Overview

Public entities are required by Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act to provide accessible services to persons with disabilities. For CDOT, "accessible services" means things like curb ramps, rest stops, building facilities, and public information.

Regulations pertaining to ADA Title II can be found in 28 CFR Part 35.

Design and construction standards can be found in the Americans With Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) and Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG).
