Maps and Restrictions for Extra-Legal Vehicles or Loads Updated January 13, 2021**

Extra-Legal Vehicles or Load

OS/OW loads are prohibited from travel when hazardous conditions exist. Hazardous conditions include SNOW, ICE, MUD, ROCKS, WIND and REDUCED VISIBILITY. No oversize movement is EVER allowed where the Chain Law is in effect. Overweight only are allowed to chain up and proceed as conditions allow. See Rule 2 CCR 601-4, 4-1, D.

Width and Height restriction: No permits over 17 feet wide or 16 feet tall. This restriction is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until further notice.

Highway 2 - In Commerce City from US6 to I-76

Abandonment by the Colorado DOT to Commerce City in 2015. OS/OW loads wanting to use this former state highway that is now a Commerce City roadway must contact Commerce City for authorization to use it.

FULL CLOSURE BEGINNING IMMEDIATELY; twenty-four hours a day, 7 days a week until April 23, 2021. CO13 is accessible from the west, closure is on east side of US6/CO13 interchange.

Width, Height and Length restriction: No oversize permits may travel in the City of Sterling from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., 12 (noon) to 1 p.m., and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. every day of the week.

MP 8 to MP 9 (from Estes St to Wadsworth Blvd) full closure -both directions-

HWY 8 is closed for culvert work, detour onto Yale or Jewell. Must contact local municipalities for permission to use their roads.

City of WALSENBURG, (jct of US160,SH10 & 25Bus), no OS loads -both directions-NO OVERSIZE LOADS: Loads accessing US160 from I-25, or vice versa; cannot use US160bus through downtown Walsenburg, Co.

25bus, exit 49 off of I-25, is now the designated "truck route" for oversize loads accessing US160 & vice versa.  

This restriction is permanent.  Contact our office with any questions.

 

13- truck route around Craig,CO

All permitted loads must use the Moffat County Truck Route around Craig, CO. (county roads 183 & 7). Must contact Moffat County to obtain permit to use their roads - 970-824-3211 (Mon-Fri 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.). 

This is now the designated truck route.

Length restriction: No permits over 90 feet traveling north on US287 to eastbound US50. Loads in excess of 90 feet in length should travel westbound on US50 to US287 north to Highway 96 east to US385.
