January 30, 2024 - Southeastern Colorado - Motorists should plan for single lane closures on Powers Boulevard near Barnes Road

El Paso County— The Colorado Department of Transportation will perform emergency pothole repairs to southbound Colorado Highway 21 (Powers Boulevard) at mile point 145.5. Motorists traveling CO 21 should be aware of single lane closures and reduced speeds through the work zone (Jan. 30).

Traffic Impacts

Beginning Jan. 29, motorists will encounter road work in the southbound lanes of CO 21 (Powers Blvd.) at MP 145.5 near Barnes Road:

  • Work hours range from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30
  • No detours will be necessary for the repairs. Travelers will experience single lane closures only
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 45 MPH through the work zone
  • The project is expected to be completed on Jan. 30

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
  • Be patient!
