CDOT to perform traffic signal pole maintenance at US 85 and Fontaine Blvd

May 3, 2024 - Southeastern Colorado - Work will affect traffic on side streets near US 85 and Fontaine Blvd. on May 6 and 7

Fountain — The Colorado Department of Transportation will perform traffic signal pole maintenance at the intersection of US Highway 85 and Fontaine Boulevard on Monday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 7. Work will affect traffic on the side streets near the intersection. Work will consist of removing rust and repainting the traffic signal poles to extend the life of the signal poles.

Traffic Impacts

Motorists and area residents can expect the following impacts during construction:

  • Work will take place Monday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 7 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    • Right turn lane closures can be expected on US 85 and Fontaine Blvd.
    • Traffic delays can be expected on the side streets near the intersection.

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
  • Be patient!
