Nov. 14, 2024 - Denver Metro - Emergency culvert repair requires weekend closure

Arvada — Motorists are advised that a full weekend closure on Indiana Street (CO 72) south of West 80th Avenue is scheduled for mid-November due to an emergency culvert repair.

Existing corrugated metal pipes that run under Indiana Street in this area are deteriorating and need to be removed. They will be replaced with a concrete box culvert. This is a Colorado Department of Transportation project and the contractor is Structures Inc.

Traffic impacts on Indiana Street south of West 80th Avenue:

  • Full weekend closure - 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, full road closure for culvert replacement
  • Overnight single lane closures - may occur during the week of Nov. 18 to 22 for new guardrail installation

During the weekend closure of Indiana Street (CO 72), expect up to 15-minute delays. A detour will be in place (review the map below):

  • CO 72 northbound traffic is advised to travel east on west 72nd Avenue to Alkire Street and north to West 80th Avenue
  • CO 72 southbound traffic is advised to travel west on CO 72 to CO 93 and south to West 64th Avenue

  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
