New traffic configuration begins June 9 on US 85 Business in Greeley

Greeley – Beginning Monday, June 9, the Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor crews will implement a full closure of northbound US Highway 85 Business (8th Avenue) between 5th Street and H Street in Greeley for concrete panel replacement and roadway improvements through late July.
The project includes new pavement, renewed asphalt shoulders, upgraded curb ramps for improved accessibility and safety enhancements to the Cache la Poudre River bridges, including deck repairs and updated guardrails.
The anticipated completion of the project is late October.
Work Schedule
- Daytime work is scheduled Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Weekend work may be required to maintain the project schedule.
Traffic Impacts
Both northbound lanes of US 85 Business will be closed 24/7 from 5th Street to H Street.
- Business and local access will remain open between 5th Street and 4th Street.
- Northbound access will remain available for JBS Foods freight and delivery vehicles.
- A detour will be in place for northbound through traffic:
- From US 85 Business, travel west on 5th Street, turn north on North 11th Avenue, travel east on H Street to rejoin US 85 Business.
- Follow posted detour signs and exercise caution in the area.
- Reduced speed limits will be enforced in construction zones.
- Construction vehicles will be entering and exiting the work areas.
- Please follow instructions from traffic control personnel.

- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.

- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
