CDOT hosts community open house for input on CO 115 Safety Improvements and Resurfacing project from Cañon City through Florence

News Release

May 28, 2025 - Southeastern Colorado - Event will take place on Thursday, June 5

Fremont County — The Colorado Department of Transportation is inviting local leaders and community members to attend a public open house meeting to learn more about the CO 115 Cañon City Through Florence Safety Improvements and Resurfacing project.

The project will repave the first 14 miles of CO 115, from the intersection with US 50 in Cañon City to the interchange with US 50 near Penrose, and will improve safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians by widening the shoulders between Ash St. (mile point 3.37) and the bridge over Chandler Creek (MP 7.08).

The project is currently in the early stages of design, which includes gathering information on the corridor’s existing condition (traffic counts, survey and utility locations) and asking the public, emergency services and local municipalities for their concerns and priorities regarding the highway. All are welcome to attend the meeting to provide feedback on the project and the CO 115 corridor.
