Expect delays through the weekend on eastbound I-70 in central Denver

May 9, 2025 - Denver Metro/Central Colorado - Lane closures tonight through Monday morning due to repair work

Denver — Significant traffic impacts are expected on eastbound I-70 from I-225 to Chambers Road through this weekend. Various lane closures are required for repairs to a section of stormwater pipe under the roadway.

Please see the following lane closures on I-70 from the I-225 interchange to Chambers Road.

When: 8 p.m. Friday, May 9 through 5 a.m. Monday, May 12

  • Eastbound I-70 left lane closed
  • Eastbound I-70 Express Lane closed
  • Westbound I-70 left shoulder closed

While work is expected to wrap up by 5 a.m. Monday, May 12, there may be ongoing closures of the eastbound I-70 Express Lane through 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 13. The westbound I-70 left shoulder is expected to be closed through Friday, May 23.

  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so
  • Be patient!
