Nov. 21, 2025 - Southwestern Colorado - Northbound traffic from New Mexico will encounter lane closures during maintenance operations

La Plata County — On Monday, Nov. 24, the Colorado Department of Transportation will perform maintenance operations to stabilize the hillside above the US Highway 550 - 160 Grandview Interchange. Motorists traveling northbound between New Mexico and Durango can expect congestion, brief delays and lane shifts between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Lane reductions will allow for the safety of crews and placement of heavy equipment during the one-day maintenance operations.

Traffic Impacts

  • Expect up to 10 minute delays on Monday, Nov. 24 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • Various lane and shoulder closures will take place within the roundabout and US 160 eastbound exit ramp towards Bayfield
  • Motorists will be guided by signage and flagging personnel through the work zone

  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
