CDOT begins resurfacing and safety improvements on I-25c business loop north of Walsenburg beginning mid-November
Project Announcement
Walsenburg — The Colorado Department of Transportation, in partnership with Siete, Inc., will begin work on the Interstate 25c Resurfacing and Safety Improvements Project beginning in mid-November. This project is located north of Walsenburg on I-25c (business) just west of mainline I-25, from Mile Point 2.3 (Pine Street) to MP 3.3.
Work consists of widening shoulders, adding turn lanes and resurfacing I-25c, and will include installation of embankment, concrete stormwater pipe, lighting and a soil nail wall. Once complete, the project will improve drivability and provide safer road conditions for travelers. The project is expected to be complete in summer 2026.
“The I-25c business loop just north Walsenburg is heavily traveled by residents and tourists,” said Region Transportation Director Shane Ferguson. “These improvements provide safer business access and provide a smoother road surface.”
