CDOT Tribute to Senator Faith Winter
Statewide - The CDOT community is devastated to learn of the passing of our colleague, Faith Winter. Faith worked tirelessly to connect Coloradans through transportation. She pushed all of us to be better stewards of our environment and air quality, to think bigger about what options like transit could do for citizens across our state, and she sought accountability to deliver results for Coloradans. She is leaving us too soon, but leaves a meaningful legacy that will continue to improve lives. We will miss her and we share our condolences and deepest sympathies with those close to her, especially her two children.
Senator Winter was a legislative leader on transportation issues throughout her public service. She most recently served as chair of the Senate Transportation and Energy Committee, and she worked in committee leadership roles in the House and on interim committees. Sen. Winter was a lead co-sponsor of SB21-260, which significantly modernized transportation revenue sources and prioritized investment across Colorado’s needs. She also championed policies to expand transit access and improve service to make transit a more effective option for more people and to help achieve cleaner air. Sen. Winter was an early advocate of EV adoption, and Colorado’s growing leadership in electric vehicles owes to her steadfast support. Our neighborhoods are becoming easier places to bike, walk, and roll thanks to her commitment to making transportation choices more accessible for everyone.
