CDOT crews perform CO 145 shoulder work along Keystone Hill near Telluride

San Miguel County — On Thursday, April 16, the Colorado Department of Transportation will perform culvert cleaning and shoulder clearing operations on Colorado Highway 145, west of Telluride. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., motorists will encounter full stops, alternating traffic and up to 20-minute delays on Keystone Hill between Telluride and Placerville (Mile Points 73 to 74).
Routine maintenance operations are necessary to remove excess debris and mitigate erosion or flooding on the roadway. Operations are weather permitting.
Traffic Impacts
Thursday, April 16 daytime work hours range from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Traffic impacts include:
- Motorists should plan for 15 to 20-minute delays and should allow for extra travel time
- Expect full stops and alternating traffic
- Watch for flaggers and signage signaling lane shifts and lane closures

- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
- Be patient!
