Travel Advisory

Jan. 14, 2026 - Denver Metro/Central Colorado - Improvements include upgrading drainage structures and improving roadway visibility

Adams County – The Colorado Department of Transportation and its contractor, Myers and Sons Construction, have completed drainage improvements along a one-mile span of Interstate 70 near Exit 285 toward Airport Boulevard to better manage stormwater and improve roadway safety.

The project upgraded existing drainage structures, added new trench drains and installed a channel filtration system to reduce flooding and improve water flow. Crews also removed built-up debris, protecting inlets, and connected new concrete pipes to the existing drainage system.

These improvements will help prevent hydroplaning and ice formation while also extending the lifespan of the road by protecting the pavement from water damage. New guardrails were also installed as well as new signage and striping, improving the roadway visibility.
