New mural enhances Firestone-Longmont Mobility Hub
News Release
Firestone — People using the Colorado Department of Transportation’s Firestone-Longmont Mobility Hub are now greeted with murals designed to create a connection with the communities the facility serves, enriching a location designed to improve safety, mobility and operational efficiency along the north Interstate 25 corridor.
Loveland-based artist and Greeley native Frank Garza has been enhancing the landscapes of Colorado communities for over 20 years through captivating public art. The mural is his first at a CDOT facility (see below).
“I named the mural ‘Connectivity’ since it would be shared by a wide range of communities that this mobility hub serves,” said Garza. “It not only pays respect to the land, the nature, and the indigenous people who were here before us, it also reminds us of the importance of water, irrigation, farmers, ranchers and field workers. I also included historical elements such as the coal carts representing Firestone and the locomotive train representing Longmont.”
The Firestone-Longmont Mobility Hub provides passenger service to Bustang’s North Line (connecting Fort Collins and Denver), RamsRoute (CSU Campus), Bustang to Broncos and a local transit connection to RIDE Longmont.
“This is an exciting opportunity to celebrate the different transportation options available to Coloradans, saving people time and money, and honor our milestone sesquicentennial birthday. This mural is a celebration of Colorado history, culture and communities. I am excited to see the ways we are commemorating Colorado’s history across the state, including through art,” said Governor Polis.
“Also, as you enter the underpass, between the left and right sides of the mural, is a stylized version of the architecture you see when you’re entering the Eisenhower Tunnel – a quiet nod to CDOT and the many incredible feats of engineering they’ve accomplished,” said Garza.

About the I-25 North Mobility Hubs
CDOT has proactively recognized and planned for the rapid population increase occurring in northern Colorado and is committed to providing multimodal choices in the form of Express Lanes, mobility hubs and carpool lots, to reduce congestion and greenhouse gases along the I-25 corridor. As part of the 26-mile long operational and safety improvement projects recently completed, three hubs were constructed at Firestone-Longmont (CO 119), Berthoud (CO 56) and Centerra Loveland (off new Kendall Parkway, north of the US 34 interchange), completing the build out of the hub network in Region Four.
