Pavement rehabilitation project to begin April 7 on CO 157 in Boulder
Project Announcement
Boulder — The Colorado Department of Transportation and prime contractor, Acme Concrete Paving Inc., begin a concrete rehabilitation project on Colorado Highway 157 (Foothills Parkway) in early April.
Construction will take place between CO 119 and the Pearl Street exit (Mile Point 2.73 to MP 4.52) within the City and County of Boulder. Major work components include the removal of existing concrete panels, pouring and curing new concrete panels, diamond grinding, sign replacements and guardrail upgrades.
The $4.3 million project is expected to prolong the service life of the roadway and help resist weather and stress-related deterioration. Additional diamond grinding activities will provide motorists a smoother ride and decrease general wear-and-tear on vehicles. Upgraded guardrails offer added safety benefits to drivers utilizing the heavily traveled corridor. Construction is anticipated to be complete in the fall of 2026.
Traffic Impacts:
- General working hours and lane closures will take place from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday night through Thursday night. Additional weekend day and night work is expected intermittently Friday night through Sunday
- Motorists will encounter single-lane closures on CO 157 during weeknights, with one lane of traffic open in each direction
- Initial concrete panel replacements require weekend work in addition to weeknight operations. Motorists can expect various nighttime and daytime closures for the first six to eight weekends of the project
- Alternate routes are advised during peak travel times
- The Pearl Street on and off-ramps at CO 157 will experience intermittent closures with detour routes. These closures are expected to be minimal throughout the project’s duration
- While significant delays are not anticipated, motorists are encouraged to account for up to 10 minutes of extra travel time
- Please be aware of additional ongoing road construction projects in the area. Teams will coordinate closures to minimize impacts to the traveling public
