Watch for northbound I-25 closures for bridge work on the I-25/US 50B Interchange project

Travel Advisory

Nov. 5, 2026 - Southeastern Colorado - Traffic will detour via the northbound I-25 bypass road

Pueblo — The Colorado Department of Transportation and its contractor partner, SEMA Construction, will complete a series of overnight northbound Interstate 25 closures and westbound US Highway 50B closures on the I-25 and US 50B Interchange project this month as crews advance bridge construction.

What:

Crews will require five overnight closures of northbound I-25 between US 50B (Exit 101A) and 29th Street (Exit 100B) as crews install 22 bridge girders, or bridge beams, over I-25 travel lanes. Crews will also close westbound US 50B between Bonforte Boulevard/Hudson Avenue and I-25 to facilitate this work.

When:

  • 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 10, to 8 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11
  • 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11, to 8 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 12

  • 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, to 8 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 15

Detours:

  • Northbound I-25 Detour: Northbound I-25 will funnel into one lane and detour around the closure using the northbound I-25 bypass road to the east of I-25 between Mineral Palace Park and 29th Street. Southbound I-25 will remain open.
  • Westbound US 50B Detour: Motorists should travel west on CO 47 and use the US 50A/CO 47 on-ramp to northbound I-25 (Exit 101).

This work is progress and weather-dependent and subject to change.

Following the completion of this work, crews will begin construction on the bridge decks and deck panels. Expect additional northbound I-25 closures in the coming months for paving operations and deck panel installation.

Project Information

Work on the $114 million I-25/US 50B Interchange project began in December 2024. During construction, crews will build five new bridge structures, retaining and noise walls, roadway and ramp reconstruction, embankment, safety improvements, drainage and erosion control. Once complete, the interchange will be located just north of the current interchange and will operate as a diverging diamond interchange to improve drivability and provide safer driving conditions for motorists. The project is scheduled for completion in early summer 2027.
