RAMP Bridge Preventative Maintenance (BPM)

Overview

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has developed the Bridge Preventative Maintenance (BPM) program to extend the service life of bridges and other major structures that are maintained by the State of Colorado. Four to five year Structure Asset Management Plans have been established and are maintained for each CDOT Region, which list the planned projects and eligible structures that will receive structural preservation/preventative maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation. The program utilizes these plans to prioritize and coordinate structural work for all BPMs, Bridge Repair, and Surface Treatment projects within the state.

Bridge Preventative Maintenance and Repair Scope of Work

The primary scope of work of the BPM eligible structures includes repair or replacement of bridge joints identified as damaged or leaking and sealing bridge decks by installing waterproofing membrane or thin bonded overlay. These projects will include deck rehabilitation prior to sealing bridge decks and may include other structural repairs, preventative maintenance, or safety improvement work.
