Project History

History Overview

In the past 10 years, the North I-25 corridor has transformed from a rural to urban environment due to explosive population growth and new development. It is critical to address the existing and impending traffic congestion issues, and to increase safety.

CDOT allocated $55 million in funding through the Responsible Acceleration of Maintenance and Partnerships (RAMP) program to extend further north the tolled Express Lanes on I-25 between US 36 and 120th Avenue. In addition to RAMP funding, the project includes the following funding sources:

  • $6.5 million of HSIP funds
  • $1 million of Bridge funds
  • $12 million from Surface Treatment
  • $1.1 million from Water Quality Fund
  • $22 million state commercial loan

In total, the project's $97.5 million in funding will extend the Express Lanes to Northwest Parkway/E-470.
