Reminder: CO 257 north of 10th Street will close for three weeks starting Sept. 5
CO 257 from north of 10th Street (U.S. Highway 34 Business) to south of Crossroads Boulevard will close for 20 days for major bridge repairs over a drainage south of Crossroads Boulevard. From 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5 through 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, approximately two miles of CO 257 between the Town of Windsor and the City of Greeley will close to through traffic.
Significant travel delays are expected. Drivers should plan ahead and seek alternate routes. Access to businesses and adjacent properties will be maintained from either side of the bridge (Mile Point 7.6), which is less than a half-mile south of Crossroads Boulevard.
Two signed detour routes will be in place.
- The local detour will direct drivers around the west side of the closure using US 34, County Road 17 and Crossroads Boulevard.
- Revised: Through commercial truck traffic must use either US 34 Business (10th Street), 59th Avenue and CO 392 to the east or US 34, CR 17, Crossroads Boulevard, and Colorado Boulevard to the west due to size and weight restrictions on local roads.
Crews will work extended hours and perform some activities over the weekend to complete this work as quickly as possible. Planned work includes extensive repairs to the bridge supports and deck, replacing bridge railing and paving the bridge. Vehicle traffic must stay off the bridge while work is performed. During the closure, crews will also resurface the highway.
Any changes to the closure schedule will be posted on message boards, cotrip.org and on the project web page.
