CO 9 Widening from Iron Springs to Frisco

Project completed

About the Project

In May 2020, crews began widening CO 9 between MP 94.8 to 96.15 from Iron Springs to Frisco, Colorado, Summit County. The project includes:

  • Widening of CO 9 to four lanes
  • Installing noise walls along Water Dance and Frisco Bay Townhomes
  • Providing a pedestrian underpass between Peninsula Recreation Area and the County Commons
  • Building roundabouts at Water Dance Drive and 8th Avenue intersections
  • Rebuilding the CO 9 southbound free right turn lane onto Main Street
  • Replacing signals at Recreation Way and Main Street
  • Improving drainage throughout the corridor

This project is part of CDOT’s “Whole System. Whole Safety.” initiative aimed at enhancing safety for Colorado’s traveling public. The highway widening and intersection improvements will provide increased capacity, reduced travel times, as well as safer intersections and crossings for motorists and pedestrians.
