I-70 Exit 26 Ramp Improvements in Grand Junction

November 11-15

The I-70 Exit 26 Ramp Improvement Project will be conducted at the existing Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI), located west of Grand Junction at Exit 26.  Monday, November 11th to Friday, November 15th work week will consist of:

  • Permanent Westbound left lane closure
  • Monday, November 11th and Tuesday, November 12th:
    • Traveling Eastbound on HWY 6 & 50: Right lane closure
  • Tuesday, November 12th, Wednesday, November 13th and Thursday, November 14th:
    • Traveling Westbound on HWY 6 & 50: Various lane closures for pavement markings
  • Flaggers present and intermittent traffic stops

In September 2019, crews on this project will begin modifications to the existing Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI), located on I-70 west of Grand Junction at Exit 26.  The goal of this project is to create better traffic flow and update the exit.

Specific improvements include:

  • the addition of a third and dedicated left-turn lane to westbound I-70
  • median removal
  • concrete and asphalt paving
  • concrete barrier
  • striping
  • traffic pole installation
  • and new signage.

Planned Work Schedule

The planned project work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
