I-225 Ramp Safety Improvements
Project Complete!
This project entails ramp safety improvements at two locations: I-225 southbound between Iliff and Parker Road and I-225 southbound at the 'split' off-ramp to I-25 northbound.
The first location will include widening and adding an auxiliary lane on I-225 southbound approaching the Parker Road off-ramp. Other work includes widening the off-ramp to southbound Parker Road to extend the two lane section of the off ramp.
Work at the second location includes widening the ramp for part of its length to extend the optional exit lane from mainline I-225.
Both sites include concrete paving, adding storm sewers, barrier, signage, striping and seeding.
Proposed Work Schedule
- July 2020 to December 2020 - Phase I - Construct auxiliary lane on southbound I-225 between Iliff and Parker ramps.
- November 2020 to February 2021 - Phase II - Widening of I-225 southbound off ramp to I-25 northbound.
- November 2020 to January 2021 - Phase III - Widening I-225 off ramp to southbound Parker Road.
Traffic Impacts

-
- Phase II
- Left lane closure – southbound I-225 to northbound I-25 split - left lane and shoulder closures at Tamarac St/DTC Blvd (Exit 2-A) through early 2021
- Signs will be in place to safely direct merging traffic from on-ramp at Tamarac into mainline traffic from southbound I-225 to northbound I-25
- Lane closures and other traffic notices are posted weekly on COTrip.org
- All schedules are weather dependent and subject to change.
- Phase III
- The left lane and both shoulders at the southbound I-225 off-ramp to South Parker Road (Exit 4) will remain closed until March 27, 2021. Caution is advised.
