I-70 Bridge Repair Near De Beque

Traffic Switch in Place through August
Those traveling west on I-70 between mile points 56 and 59 will be switched to the eastbound lane to protect crews as they work on the westbound lanes of the channel bridge. This new configuration will remain in effect 24/7 until late August 2018.
On March 26, 2018, crews started repairing the westbound I-70 bridge (G-03-Q) near De Beque in Mesa County. The repairs will mitigate fatigue cracks in the structural steel girders. Work will include the following:
- crack repair;
- installation of structural steel;
- bridge deck repairs;
- replacement of bridge expansion joints;
- replacement of asphalt and waterproofing membrane;
- replacement of bridge rail;
- replacement of guardrail; and
- construction of crossovers for maintenance of traffic.
Schedule
- Hours: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Hours may be extended, and weekend work may occur.
- Work is expected to be complete by mid-October 2018.
Traffic Impacts
- The workzone speed limit reduced to 45 mph.
- Loads wider than 14 feet are restricted.
