Weekly Traffic Impacts & Work Update


Traffic Impacts - Week of Oct. 22 to Oct. 28

 

Please be advised of the following lane closures, restrictions and planned work for next week for the I-70 over 32nd Avenue Bridge Replacement project in Jefferson County. Substantial project completion is expected by the week of Oct. 29.

Sunday, Oct. 22 to Thursday, Oct. 26 - both directions of I-70 - overnight single & double lane closures 

  • Single lane closures will be taken nightly on both westbound and eastbound I-70 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday to Thursday
  • These single lanes will switch to double lane closures in both directions of I-70 at 9 p.m. and last until approx. 6 a.m. each morning
  • The double lane closures will alternate left to right, as needed
  • Late lane reopenings are possible and delays are expected
  • The project limits on I-70 extend from Mile Point 263 to MP 265
  • Single to double lane closures on westbound I-70 will also run concurrently during overnight hours Sunday to Thursday with the I-70 over Ward Road Bridge Replacement project which has limits from Exit 265 to Exit 266 (see Nearby Project Impacts below for specific details)
  • Motorists can expect longer than usual delays on westbound I-70 due to overnight lane closures in adjacent work zones
  • All schedules are weather and supply dependent and subject to change
Work includes guardrail patching, slope paving, removing barrier, concrete pours for curb and gutter and divider wall, installing cable rail, and seeding the median.

Monday, Oct. 23 to Friday, Oct. 27 - 32nd Ave under I-70 - daily lane closures
  • Various lane closures will be in place from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily in both directions of 32nd Ave under I-70 
  • Single lane closures may exist before 7:30 a.m. and after 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, as needed
  • Some Saturday work is expected
  • The south sidewalk on 32nd Ave is temporarily closed
  • Sidewalk access is limited to the north side of 32nd Ave
  • Caution is advised
  • All schedules are weather and supply dependent and subject to change

Nearby Project Impacts


 I-70 over Ward Road Bridge Replacement
  • Single lane closures (7p.m. to 10 p.m.) switching to double lane closures (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.) will be taken on westbound I-70 within the project limits during overnight hours Sunday to Thursday
  • Westbound I-70 traffic will be shifted onto median detour pavement during overnight hours on Tuesday, Oct. 24, with a backup date of Oct. 26 in the event of inclement weather
  • The Ward Road on ramp to westbound I-70 will be closed overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. during the westbound I-70 traffic shift, with detour signage in place
  • The project limits on I-70 extend from MP 265 to MP 266.5
  • Intermittent daytime and overnight lane closures will be taken in both directions of Ward Road/CO 72 under the I-70 bridges Monday to Friday
  • The closures on Ward Road will exist from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed 
  • All construction schedules are weather and supply dependent and subject to change
Work includes moving barrier, restriping lanes, and realigning traffic.
