Weekly Traffic Impacts & Work Update


Traffic Impacts - Week of Sept. 3 to Sept. 9

 

Please be advised of the following travel advisory, lane closures and planned work for next week for the I-70 over 32nd Avenue Bridge Replacement project in Jefferson County.

Travel Advisory - Tuesday, Sept. 5 - overnight traffic shift with various lane closures - eastbound I-70 at 32nd Ave Exit 264
  • A traffic shift on eastbound I-70 will be implemented during overnight hours on Tuesday, Sept. 5
  • The shift was originally planned to take place on Aug. 31 but has been delayed until after the Labor Day weekend
  • Implementation of the traffic shift will include setting temporary barrier, restriping the lanes, and realigning traffic 
  • Motorists can expect a single lane closure changing to double lane closures and short delays on eastbound I-70 during the shift
  • The single lane closure will exist from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • The double lane closures will be taken between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Once the overnight shift is implemented, traffic will be in its final configuration
  • The project limits extend along I-70 from MP 263 (Exit 1263 Colorado Mills) to MP 265 (Exit 265 CO 58/Golden) 
  • Three lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction of I-70 through the work zone
  • No impacts to westbound I-70 or 32nd Ave. under I-70 are expected during the shift
Work includes moving barrier, restriping lanes and shifting traffic.

Other Traffic Impacts - Sept. 5 to Sept. 8

 

Thursday, Sept. 7 - eastbound I-70 - overnight lane closures 
  • Single lane closures switching to double lane closures are planned on eastbound I-70 within the project limits during overnight hours on Thursday, Sept. 7
  • The closures will be in place from approx. 7 p.m. (single) switching to double lane closures at 10 p.m. and lasting until approx. 6 a.m. 
  • All schedules are weather and supply dependent and subject to change
Work includes milling, paving, and repairing guardrail.

Tuesday, Sept. 5 to Friday, Sept. 8 - 32nd Ave under I-70 - intermittent lane closures 
  • Intermittent single lane closures will exist during daytime hours in both directions of 32nd Ave under I-70 
  • The closures will be in place from approx. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Friday
  • Overnight lane closures may also be taken in both directions of 32nd Ave from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., as needed
  • Single right lane closures may also exist on southbound Youngfield St through the work zone, as needed
  • Sidewalk access is limited
  • All schedules are weather and supply dependent and subject to change

Nearby Project Impacts


 I-70 over Ward Road Bridge Replacement
  • A full overnight closure of Ward Rd/CO 72 will be in place from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Sept. 6 for a bridge deck pour
  • A detour route will exist (W. 44th Ave to Youngfield to Clear Creek Pkwy)
  • The westbound I-70 ramps will remain open during the deck pour
  • A double lane closure will exist on eastbound I-70 during overnight hours on Sept. 6 from 10 p.m. to 6 am.
  • Various daytime and some overnight lane closures will be taken in both directions of Ward Road/CO 72 under the I-70 bridges Tuesday to Friday
  • The daily closures will exist from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • All construction schedules are weather and supply dependent and subject to change
Work includes constructing detour pavement, reinforcing the bridge deck, and pouring the bridge deck.
