October 2015
- Construction begins on I-70 detour crossovers. This involves putting down temporary asphalt in the median between the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-70. This pavement will eventually be used to divert all I-70 traffic onto one side while work is done on the opposite side of the highway. Although the crossover detours will be built in October, they will not be used until full underpass construction begins in the spring of 2016. Doing this work in October helps mitigate potential weather-related delays.
Spring 2016
- Full construction of the underpass begins and the crossover detours are put to use.
July 2016
- Planned completion of new bridge.
- Frontage Road traffic will be detoured to accommodate construction of lower frontage road, subsequent underpass and roundabout.
Winter 2016/2017
- Suspension of crossover detours and Frontage Roads restored to normal/full capacity during the winter tourist season.
Spring & Summer 2017
- Frontage Road detours reestablished to allow for final roundabout construction, landscaping work and installation of aesthetic components.
