US 24 Constitution Avenue to Garrett Road
This project—which widened the US 24 and Garrett Road intersection—was completed in October 2017.
In spring and early summer 2017, crews constructed a raised center median and an acceleration lane for left turns from Garrett Road onto westbound US 24.
The acceleration lane provides a barrier-separated space for drivers to turn left without stopping westbound US 24 traffic. This configuration eliminates the need for a traffic signal to control traffic on westbound US 24, increases capacity and improves traffic flow at the intersection.
This design is compatible with or without widening to the east on US 24.
In summer 2017, project crews:
- Completed asphalt, roadway base and concrete paving improvements on westbound US 24 from Constitution Avenue (mile point 315) to Garrett Road (MP 319);
- Repaired the Sand Creek culvert under Troy Hill Road.
