This project was part of an $85 million statewide ADA-compliance initiative for communities, providing functional accessibility to all travelers using state and US highways. All statewide work is expected to be completed by 2021. - Location: along US 550, US 160 and Carbon Junction near Durango Motor Company in Durango
Crews on this project improved sidewalk curb ramps along US Highway 550 and US Highway 160 to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), and to accommodate all pedestrians.
Crews worked at 10 intersections throughout Durango and installed 19 ADA-compliant ramps, which brought each into compliance with Public Right of Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG) requirements. Work included improving curb ramps, curb, gutter and sidewalk.
