Crews on this project are completing final paving, sign and rumble strip installation and seeding on US Highway 85 between Eaton and Ault.

The US Highway 85 Resurfacing Project from Eaton to Ault is the latest phase dedicated to improving the safety and quality of this highway by resurfacing, enhancing intersections, and adding a traffic light at US 85 and Weld County Road 76.

The resurfacing will ultimately eliminate potholes and replace the road with a new asphalt surface on a stable road foundation. In 2016, crews received an Environmental Stewardship Award for their voluntary efforts to reduce environmental impacts while conducting business.

Work completed before the 2017 winter shutdown:

  • Resurfaced the northbound lanes of US 85
  • Enhanced the intersections of US 85 at Collins Street, 10th Street and US 14

  • Current working hours: 6 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Hours are subject to change.
  • Expect occasional weekend work.

Traffic Impacts

  • Traffic on southbound US 85 has been switched over to the northbound lanes through the project's completion.
  • Speeds will be reduced to 25 mph in Eaton and Ault, and 45 mph between the two towns.
  • We will communicate all traffic impacts to residents and businesses.
