Work on the Colorado Department of Transportation project to improve sections of State Highway 112 will begin on April 15, 2019. The work was contracted to APC Southern Construction for $3.6 million and is scheduled for completion in June of 2019.

The project extends 14.54 miles on State Highway 112 in Alamosa, Rio Grande, and Saguache Counties. The project begins at  Milepost 13.256 and continues to Milepost 27.796.   

Specific improvements include:

  • Asphalt overlay,
  • Sign and delineator replacement
  • Pavement marking and an ADA Curb,
  • Ramp and sidewalk in the Town of Center, CO

Work Schedule

  • Work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (daylight hours), Monday through Friday. There is no Holiday or weekend work anticipated at this time.

Traffic Impacts

  • The speed limit is be reduced to 40 MPH while approaching and in the construction zone from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Motorists should allow for travel delays up to 15 minutes, as traffic will be reduced to a single-lane through the work zone.
  • There will also be a 12 foot width restriction in place during work hours. Remember, all business and residence access will be maintained, but may be temporarily altered.
