Work This Week

Week of June 29 & July 6

Crews are working on paving and roadwork operations, bridge repairs, and drainage improvements on Colorado Highway 71.  

Week of June 29

Crews are milling and paving traffic lanes and shoulders on CO 71 south of Main Street in Limon, from mile point 100 to MP 100.9.  Traffic will be reduced to one-lane traffic in each direction and flaggers will guide traffic through the area and control intersecting streets. Access to driveways will be maintained as much as possible.

South of County Road 2W from Mile Point 86 to MP 88, motorists can expect:

  • Temporary traffic signals in place 24/7
  • Alternating traffic configuration with traffic stops 24/7
  • The speed limit will be reduced through construction areas and an oversize restriction will be in place 24/7 for loads over 12-foot
  • Additionally, flaggers will assist traffic through the work zones, with intermittent traffic stops and an alternating single-lane closure (alternating traffic) from south of Main Street to south of County Road 2W, from Mile Point 100.9 to MP 90.
  • Operations are scheduled from Monday to Thursday.

Week of July 6

Crews are milling and paving traffic lanes and shoulders on CO 71 south of Main Street in Limon. Activities are scheduled at various locations, with lane closures, intermittent traffic stops, and flaggers assisting traffic through the work zone. Locations include:

  • From south of Colorado Street to County Road 2 Z, from mile point 95 to MP 100
  • South of County Road 2 T, from mile point 86 to MP 88
  • South of County Road 2D, from mile point 75 to MP 76
  • Near County Road T, from mile point 64 to MP
  • The speed limit will be reduced through construction areas and an oversize restriction will be in place 24/7 for loads over 12-foo

Operations are scheduled from Monday to Friday.

About the Project

In March 2020, CDOT will begin a resurfacing project on a 37-mile stretch of CO 71, south of Limon, between mile points (MP) 63.8 to 100.83.


Work Schedule

  • Activities will begin on Monday, March 2, and continue through October 2020.

Traffic Impacts

  • -Activities will require a single lane closure, with alternative traffic through the construction zone.
  • A temporary signal will be installed near the bridges to assist motorists through the area. This configuration will remain in place 24/7.
  • The speed limit will be reduced, and there is a oversize restriction for loads over 12-ft. An alternate route is recommended.
  • Once paving operations begin, flaggers will guide motorists through the single-lane closures, with traffic stops of up to 15 minutes.
